Ascenta, an industry leader in omega-3 essential fatty acids, donated close to $30,000 today to the Nova Scotia Nature Trust as part of its ongoing commitment to the environment.

The Nature Trust has partnered with Ascenta for the past nine years and sees the benefit of a long term contribution that grows directly with revenues. “While many companies are tightening the purse strings in the face of economic challenge and uncertainty, Ascenta is providing inspiring environmental leadership,” noted Nature Trust Executive Director Bonnie Sutherland. “Ascenta provides stable, reliable conservation funding for the Nature Trust, and because their contribution increases as their business grows, their support makes significant conservation achievements possible.”

This donation is part of Ascenta’s commitment to 1% for the Planet, through which Ascenta donates 1% of its annual revenue to environmental causes. “Ascenta is deeply committed to sustainability, which is reflected in the company's values, products, daily operations and philanthropic giving,” said Terry Kellogg, CEO of 1% for the Planet. “Their innovation and leadership is helping to inspire other companies to tackle key questions relating to sustainability, and to inspire giving to environmental organizations throughout the world" he added.

Locally, Ascenta’s 1% commitment is helping to preserve Nova Scotia’s most unique and treasured natural areas. “With the dedication and generosity of partners like Ascenta, we are making exciting strides in protecting the best of our natural areas, before it’s too late,” noted Bonnie Sutherland. “Saving our natural legacy is something that benefits all Nova Scotians.”
