Nova Scotia Nature Trust | Nova Scotians Protecting Nova Scotia

In December 2016 we took the plunge and purchased of our own building in Dartmouth. The move provides stability and decreases our annual operating costs significantly, important steps toward the organizational sustainability. The cost savings also ensure even more funds go directly toward saving land! The new property provides something else too - an exciting chance to reduce our environmental footprint and bring our biodiversity conservation mission right into the city.

Like many older urban homes, the property poses environmental challenges. We plan to convert those problems to environmental benefits by creating “Nature’s House.” It will be a model of sustainable, environmentally-friendly and green urban design. We will showcase native biodiversity, water and energy conservation and efficiency, with simple, affordable solutions others can easily replicate.
